Summer is here, and while the heat is intense, many of us also struggle with the cold indoors from air conditioning.


These fluctuations, along with stress and irregular routines, make it easy for the body to feel worn out.


Recently, I’ve noticed more patients complaining of:

  • Feeling tired even after a full night’s sleep

  • Cold, swollen hands and feet

Most of these symptoms are caused by body temperature fluctuations from alternating between hot outdoor temperatures and cool indoor air, combined with energy loss due to sweating and poor sleep.



Why Summer Fatigue Happens


1. Cold from air conditioning Spending long hours in air-conditioned spaces lowers surface body temperature, reducing circulation. This can lead to shoulder and back stiffness, headaches, and digestive problems.


2. Autonomic nervous system imbalance Moving repeatedly between hot outdoor air and cool indoor air overworks your autonomic nervous system, causing fatigue, sluggishness, and poor sleep quality.


3. Sweating and dehydration Excessive sweating without proper hydration or minerals can cause muscle stiffness and increase tiredness.

Simple Tips for Summer Health at Home


  1. Keep indoor-outdoor temperature differences within 5°C

    Large differences strain your autonomic nervous system. Set the AC slightly higher if possible.

  2. Keep your neck, abdomen, and ankles warm

    Use light cardigans, waist warmers, and socks to prevent cold.

  3. Stay hydrated and replenish minerals

    Drink barley tea or sports drinks to prevent dehydration and fatigue.
