and proposed treatments

【For a smooth recovery post surgery : The care, rehabilitation, and exercise advise I can offer】

Taking good care of your body post surgery is crucial in order to restore your health and get your ordinary daily life back.

This patient had surgery to remove a tumor from her back 20 years ago.

She initially started to feel discomfort in her back, hips and thighs, which turned into unbearable pain, and since she could not stay at home due to the severe pain, she was immediately hospitalized. After a detailed examination, it was found that the tumor was pressing on a nerve. Fortunately, the tumor was benign, and she recovered smoothly after the surgery.

However, after the surgery, the muscles in her legs, especially her thighs, had completely weakened, and she began to stumble while walking.

Thanks to her own efforts, she gradually regained her leg strength through swimming and walking.

However, she occasionally comes to my practice because she is troubled by the occasional feeling of heaviness and tightness at the surgical wound.

STEP 1: Assess your body movements, spinal condition, and muscle tension through palpation

I loosen the wounds where adhesions are likely to occur, reduce muscle tension, and relax the area. Treatments around the wounds are performed carefully and thoroughly.

STEP 2: Release the twist in your spine

When there is pain in the body, the body tries to protect that part of the body, causing imbalances such as twisting of the spine. By supporting the pelvis and back with both hands, I can relieve the twisting.

STEP 3: Improve tension and spasms with Shiatsu, massage, and acupuncture

Muscle tension at the surgical incision (on her back in this patient's. case) also leads to tension in the surrounding muscles. In this treatment, I reduced the stiffness of the muscles around the pelvis and the excessive tension around the shoulder blades. In addition, acupuncture on the shoulders and neck improved blood flow to the entire upper body, and acupuncture on the top of the head restored balance to the autonomic nervous system and the whole body.

STEP 4: Electric acupuncture therapy works effectively on the deep layers of the muscles

Electric acupuncture therapy is recommended as it has an immediate effect as it reaches deep into the muscles. Please rest assured that I will carefully start with a weak stimulation to ensure the stimulation is not excessive.

Finally: To maximize the effect of surgery

I provide this patient with acupuncture, manipulative treatment and myofascial release therapy on the regular basis to relieve her symptoms, as well as give exercise advise she can do at home.

I am sure I can assist you if you are not recovering well after surgery or are experiencing pain or fatigue.
