Proper rehabilitation is essential for successfully returning to normal daily life after surgery.
In this post, I share the importance of post-operative rehabilitation and the approach I use at my practice, illustrated by the case of a patient recovering from spinal stenosis surgery.
1: Why Post-Operative Rehabilitation Matters
Following a structured rehabilitation plan after surgery is key to rebuilding muscle strength and improving flexibility.
Overexerting too soon or avoiding movement due to discomfort can slow recovery and reduce overall outcomes.
2: How I Support Patients
I create personalized treatment plans based on detailed consultations and physical assessments.
My rehabilitation programs may include:
Acupuncture: to reduce inflammation and improve blood circulation
Therapeutic massage: to release muscle tension and restore proper tone
Stretching exercises: to enhance flexibility and strength
This holistic approach ensures each patient progresses safely and efficiently toward recovery.
3: Rehabilitation Example – Spinal Stenosis Surgery
For this patient, I focused on:
Exercise ball movements: to improve spinal mobility and core muscle activation
Shoulder mobility exercises: addressing limitations due to periarthritis
Home exercises: to enhance hip flexibility and overall muscle strength
Ensuring a Smooth Return to Daily Life
I carefully monitor each patient’s progress and adjust the rehabilitation plan as needed. Acupuncture, massage, and guided stretching are combined to support recovery and prevent setbacks.
With over 30 years of experience, I aim to help each patient regain functional strength, flexibility, and confidence in daily activities after surgery.
