No matter the type of surgery, proper post-operative care is essential for restoring your health and enjoying a stable daily life.
This patient had surgery to remove a back tumor 20 years ago. Afterward, she experienced discomfort in her back, waist, and legs. The pain became intense enough that she could not stay at home, prompting immediate hospitalization.
Tests confirmed the tumor was pressing on a nerve, but fortunately, it was benign, and the patient recovered well. However, her leg muscles, especially in the thighs, had weakened post-surgery, causing occasional stumbles while walking. Thanks to her own efforts through swimming and walking, she gradually regained strength.
Still, she occasionally experiences dull sensations or tightness around the surgical site, prompting her visits to my practice.
Step 1: Assess Movement, Spine, and Muscle Tension
I carefully palpate the surgical area to identify adhesions and muscle tightness. Surrounding muscles are gently loosened to reduce tension and restore comfort.
Step 2: Correct Spinal Twists
Post-surgical pain can cause compensatory spinal misalignment. I support the pelvis and back with my hands and carefully release twists to restore balance.
Step 3: Reduce Muscle Tension with Acupressure, Massage, and Acupuncture
Muscle tension near the surgical site can extend to surrounding areas. In this case, I released tight muscles near the pelvis and shoulder blades. Acupuncture to the neck and shoulders improves overall blood circulation, while points on the scalp balance the autonomic nervous system and overall body harmony.
Step 4: Deep Muscle Stimulation with Electric Acupuncture (Pulse)
Electric acupuncture reaches deep muscle layers, providing immediate relief. I start with gentle stimulation and monitor comfort levels throughout the session.
Final Step: Support Recovery with Home Exercises
I provide personalized exercise guidance for continued improvement at home. Occasional discomfort during recovery is normal.
If you experience lingering pain or weakness after surgery, early intervention can make a big difference. I am here to help you restore full function and return to daily life comfortably.
